  • Create reading goals

  • Break page counts into daily targets

  • Track deadlines and progress

Float is a planning and productivity tool. It does not guarantee that you will complete your work, meet a deadline, improve your grades, or achieve a specific academic result.

2. Your account

To use certain features of Float, you may need to create an account using Apple, Google, email, or another supported sign-in method.

You are responsible for keeping your account details safe. You should not share your account with anyone else.

You agree that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date where needed.

  • Copy, reverse engineer, or attempt to reproduce Float’s software or design without permission

We may suspend or remove access to your account if we believe you have broken these terms or misused the app.

4. Essay and reading goals

Float helps you calculate daily word count and reading page targets based on the information you enter.

You are responsible for checking your own deadlines, assignment requirements, reading lists, university rules, and academic expectations.

Float is here to help you plan your workload, but it should not replace your own judgement, your university’s guidance, or advice from your tutors.

5. Out of Sight

Out of Sight is designed to help users focus by putting their phone away during selected study times.

When you use Out of Sight, connected friends or group members may be able to see that you have joined a study time or gone Out of Sight.

You agree to use Out of Sight respectfully and not to pressure, harass, or repeatedly disturb other users through nudges, groups, or notifications.

6. Friends and groups

Float may allow you to connect with friends, create groups, join groups, and see certain study activity from other users.

You are responsible for the people you connect with and the groups you join.

We may remove groups, restrict features, or suspend accounts if we believe they are being used in a harmful, abusive, or inappropriate way.

7. Notifications

Float may send notifications about deadlines, reading goals, study sessions, Out of Sight activity, friend nudges, and groups.

You can manage notifications through your device settings.

We cannot guarantee that every notification will arrive on time. You should not rely only on Float notifications for important academic deadlines.

8. Subscriptions and payments

Some Float features may require a paid subscription.

By subscribing, your payment will be charged to your Apple ID. Your subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings.

You are responsible for managing or cancelling your subscription through your App Store or device account settings.

Free trials, if offered, will be explained before you start the trial. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, your subscription may begin automatically at the price shown at the time of purchase.

9. Refunds

Refunds for purchases made through the App Store are handled by Apple and are subject to Apple’s own rules and processes.

Float does not directly control App Store refund decisions.

10. Intellectual property

Float, including its name, branding, design, features, text, graphics, icons, software, and content, belongs to Float or its licensors.

You may use Float for your own personal, educational, or productivity purposes, but you may not copy, sell, reproduce, modify, or distribute any part of the app without written permission.

11. User content

You may enter content into Float, such as essay titles, book titles, deadlines, groups, names, or other information.

You remain responsible for the content you add.

You must not add content that is illegal, abusive, offensive, harmful, misleading, or that infringes someone else’s rights.

By using Float, you give us permission to process your content only as needed to provide and improve the app.

12. Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have.

Please read the Privacy Policy inside the app.

13. Changes to Float

We may update, improve, remove, or change parts of Float from time to time.

This may include changes to features, pricing, subscriptions, design, or availability.

We will try to avoid disrupting your use of the app, but we cannot guarantee that every feature will always be available.

14. App availability

We aim to keep Float running smoothly, but we do not guarantee that the app will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted.

There may be times when Float is unavailable because of maintenance, updates, technical issues, third-party services, or events outside our control.

15. Limitation of liability

Float is provided as a productivity and planning tool.

To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for:

  • Missed deadlines

  • Lost work

  • Incorrect information entered by users

  • Academic results

  • Loss of progress due to technical issues

  • Notification delays or failures

  • Losses caused by misuse of the app

  • Issues caused by third-party services, app stores, or devices

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you may have under applicable consumer law.

16. Ending your use of Float

You can stop using Float at any time.

You may also be able to delete your account from inside the app or by contacting us.

We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, misuse the app, or use Float in a way that could harm other users or the service.

17. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time.
